The past few weeks have been pretty "unremarkable." We have basically hunkered down with work, school, and church activities. I've worked a lot the past couple of weeks as we are going out of town twice the next few weeks. Tomorrow we travel to NC to visit the Burchel side of the family for Christmas (and we're all excited about the visit). Then after spending Christmas here, we travel back to NC to Lake Lure to spend a week with the Hutchison side of the family; that should be fun as well.
As I mentioned we have kind of "hunkered" down the past few weeks. A few Sunday's ago we enjoyed going to the Grand Illumination in Colonial Williamsburg. It is a yearly tradition in which CW "kicks off" the holiday season with a firework display. It is fun to get together with friends and family on a cold evening and watch the fireworks light up the sky.
Also over the past couple of weeks Sarah and Ben have enjoyed a few youth group outings including a Progressive Dinner over the weekend. They have also been working hard in school and have had several tests lately. Both are doing well with their schoolwork. And since football season has ended, Ben has started taking guitar lessons and seems to enjoy that (at least by the amount of times he picks up his guitar each day).
Sam and the little girls keep Marti quiet busy. Sam is continuing to some improvement in school and really likes his tutor that he meets with twice a week. We began to notice that Sam had a few learning issues last year and after some testing have enrolled him in a special tutoring program that addresses these challenges. We are proud of Sam's willingness to engage and work through these issues.
Amy and Kate keep things interesting around here. They really are best buddies but having a 2 and a 3 year old running around provides little time to chill around here. Most challenging is keeping Kate from tearing up the house. She is so into exploring things that everything seems to get torn asunder. Surprisingly, she has kept away from the Christmas tree and the presents; of course, we still have 11 days to go until Christmas.
Anyway, I just realized that this turned into a little more than a quick update but I'm sure those who were interested in catching up don't really mind.
