We returned today from a good trip to Lake Gaston (in NC near the VA border) to celebrate Christmas with the Hutchisons. We had to scramble around last Sunday as the huge snow storm that swept through the Southeast really made a mess of our plans to go to mountain cabin near Lake Lure (also in NC but nearer Asheville). We were able to get a refund from the first cabin and learned today that the family who had rented last week was still stranded on the mountain. That would have made the family get together a bit awkward!
Anyway, I was downloading pictures from Christmas and started looking back at all the pictures from this year. It was a quick reminder of how blessed we've been this year. Some of the highlights included the following:
1. Kate's Baptism
2. Winter Storms (to start and finish the year)
3. Our Winter Vacation to Banner Elk - Skiing and watching the Winter Olympics were highlights
4. Taking Amy to San Diego for a Medical Conference
5. Cards-Phillies Roadtrip
6. Marti and Ben's Roadtrip to DC
7. Helping Coach Sam's Baseball team this Spring
8. Another Successful VBS
9. Our Annual Visit to Kiawah
10. Sarah's Photo Workshop out in Utah
11. Ben's MVP Season with the Hornets
12. Running My 10th Marathon
And so, as this year closes out we are thankful for the many blessings we experienced this past year. Of course, it had its share of tough days, tears, frustrations, and other challenges, but it only seems right to celebrate the good times of the past year on the last day of the year.
We hope that no matter what kind of year you had that somehow in someway you experienced the grace of God. And if not, that is our hope for you in 2011.
