T minus 45 minutes until another Christmas Day. Although, technically it is already Christmas Day for my friends living in Kenya. But you get the point.
Christmas music is playing in the background as we put the final touches on our Christmas plans. The kids are in bed, hopefully having sweet dreams. The fireplace is on, the lights on the tree look great, and Marti and I are ready to go to bed.
It has been a good Christmas Eve. After doing some last minute errands this afternoon, we started the Christmas Celebration right by attending our Christmas Eve service at church. It is always one of the best services of the year.
Afterwards we continued our Christmas tradition by eating dinner out. We started this several years ago in residency by eating Chinese. We continued eating Chinese on Christmas Eve while in Newberry and Nairobi. The past couple of years we switched up a bit by eating Italian and Mexican but decided to go back to Oriental food. This year we choose the Bangkok Gardens and we chose wisely. We all enjoyed our meal and the time around the table.
After coming home we continued yet another tradition of giving the kids their new Christmas pajamas (Marti and I get a new pair also). Everyone was so excited especially Sam who got a larger size of one of his favorite pairs that he got almost 5 years ago. And then of course we put the kids to bed so that we could put out the stockings.
Although I can't believe Christmas is already here, this season has not felt as rushed and harried as the past. For that I am thankful. More importantly, I am thankful for the real reason for the season...Jesus came as the Incarnate God.
Merry Christmas everyone.
P.S. It's now T minus 35 minutes til Christmas!
