Marti, Sarah, and I returned Sunday evening from a great visit to The King's College in New York City (NYC). We went for a preview weekend of the college. We left Thursday morning and had a whirlwind visit to this great American city. More importantly, we got a really good sense of what The King's College is all about. We all left with excitement and enthusiasm about what God was leading Sarah to do next year.
I can not tell you how impressed Marti and I were with the school, the leadership, the faculty, and the students at King's. It was such an encouragement to learn about what they are doing. We were amazed at the opportunities afforded students who attend. We were excited that Sarah has been offered admission to this school.
There are so many different aspects of the visit that I could talk about. But I will give a down and dirty. Each year they admit about 200 students. They have already had 1800 applications; they expect another 1000 before the application deadline. They therefore accept less than 10% of applicants. The average SAT score of students there is 1860. The average GPA is 3.7. Enough said about that.
The school has classrooms in the Empire State Building (it is pictured behind Sarah in this photo). The students live in apartments in Midtown Manhattan. Yes, that's right. They live right in the middle of New York City...they sleep, eat, learn, and live right in heart of NYC. It is an incredible opportunity for learning.
Anyway, even as I sit here, I realize I am struggling to convey all that makes up King's. Let's just leave this post as an announcement that Sarah is very excited for me to have sent in the Enrollment Deposit to secure her spot for the Class of '15 at The King's College in NYC. Hopefully in the days ahead we can share more about why we are at peace about the direction God is leading.
Wow!! I am so excited!! This is amazing! Another cool fact about them, their president is Dinesh D'Souza, a conservative icon. This is such a great choice. And I am really impressed our Sarah got in too! I always knew she was smart.
