Ahhh....Vacation Sweet Vacation! We are enjoying Day 4 of our summer vacation down at Kiawah Island. The weather has been incredible with mostly sunny skies and warm temps up to only the low 90s. It has of course been a bit humid but not the smothering type of humid that sometimes plagues South Carolina. And happily for us, it is a little bit less crowded than usual for this time of year.
We arrived Saturday afternoon after smooth sailing on the interstates. We only had the occasional jerk from New Jersey zoom past and cut us off. But the little girls traveled well and we settled in as if at home. That is one of the reasons we keep coming back year after year...it feels like home.
We are refilling our physical and emotional tanks after a long first half of the year. VBS went very well for Marti and the kids, but it takes its toll on us with all the planning and work. Plus there is definitely an element of spiritual warfare going on that we can't deny. But God was ever faithful and blessed the effort.
Our days have been pretty relaxing so far. We have generally slept in, gone to the beach or pool, hung out together, and enjoyed good meals. I have really enjoyed some one on one time with the kids (although the time gets truncated a bit with so many one on one match ups to keep up with!). I have take a stroll down the beach with Amy, played Frisbee with Ben, splashed in the pool with Kate, played catch with Sam, and hung out reading with Sarah on the beach. Marti and I get to smile at each other with happy fatigue at the end of the day! We have actually been able to enjoy coffee together on the deck a couple of mornings as well.
My prayer for the remainder of our trip (we're here until July 10th) is that we will make memories together, recharge our batteries emotionally, physically, and spiritually, and that we will be knitted together in unity as a family.
I am taking lots of pics and video and will try to get them posted after we get back. I forgot my connector cords for the camera and the Flip.
