Marti, Sarah, and Ben have been up in Gaithersburg helping our great friends the Keelers move and settle into their new house. Marti went up as an Interior Design Consultant and apparently has done a great job once again. It sounds weird but I really think her ability in this area is a blessing to folks. Time and again, she has been able to bless someone by helping re-decorate a room. She really encourages people to make their house a home.
That being said, I have been a "single" father to the younger kids. Sam has been a great help and the little girls have been fairly easy to please and keep happy. We have been blessed with great weather so that has helped by letting us spend time outside (going to the park, going to baseball practice, going on bike rides, going to get ice cream, etc). So once again, it has been a great time at home this weekend.
One thing that has really surprised this past month is the opportunity to be an assistant coach for Sam's ball team. I have really enjoyed getting out there with the boys helping them to learn the game (baseball) that I really love. It helps that at 9 years old, the boys pick things up fairly fast AND that there is not a whole lot of goofing off.
It seems that over the past year I have gotten into a bit of a rut working, sleeping, working, taking time off recovering, running, eating, working, and so on. I haven't necessarily been working too much (I only work 168 hours per month = 42 hours per week), but I think that other than taking some family vacations (which have been nice) I haven't been doing anything on a weekly basis that has been stimulating to my mind or development. Coaching has afforded an opportunity to do something different and (in my mind) worthwhile.
These are just a few of the things going on in my head this weekend.
Cool you got to assistant coach for Sam's team. Yes, Marti should go pro with her design skills. She really does have gifts on that. With all the free time she has on her hands, she should get busy! hahaha Seriously, maybe someday though... As long as she does it for free I won't complain!
