A lot of times people in the States think that the only means of supporting a missionary are either through prayer or finances. However we have already experienced some other practical ways that churches and individuals can "support" us. Here is the list.
1. Care packages. These have gone over well. The contents of these packages have included: Blow-pops and stickers for the kids, JIF Peanut Butter, pecans, walnuts, and even a T-Shirt.
2. Sermon tapes and CD's. Sounds boring, but these have been very encouraging.
3. Frequent emails. Getting short (and long) emails frequently remind us (frequently) that we are not alone in this work.
4. Christmas cards. One church had several of its mission committee members send Christmas cards. These have been so appreciated.
5. "Extra" gifts. We have received some personal gifts of cash from folks with notes to "go on a date" or "get something special". These have come at the right time.
6. News from home. One supporter kept me "up to the minute" on the Cardinals in the playoffs. Another sends small interesting news articles by email.
These are just a few of the ways that folks have supported us to date. I look forward to how God will move people to "creatively" become involved in our work.
Peanut butter!
So stereotypical, but sooooo appreciated. *Grin*
